OBJECTIVES
- Synthesis of thin films, heterostructures, multilayers and supperlattices of functional materials
- Correlation of physical properties with structure and external parameters (stress, strain, magnetic field, temperature…).
- Study of phase transitions and interface properties.
Current breakthroughs in smart functional materials are based on correlations induced by strong electronic interactions leading to remarkable physical properties. New functionalities can be amplified and tuned by external parameters (stress, strain at interfaces, magnetic field, temperature…) particularly when these materials are prepared as multilayers or superlattices.
Highlights
- Resistive Swichting materials for non-volatile memories.
- RE nickelates and cobaltites thin films with tunable metal-insulator transition by strain and stress.
- Phase transformations and selective growth in multiferroïc YMnO3 MOCVD films.
- Transition metal (Mn, Co, Ni) oxides for redox supercapacitors electrodes with high specific capacitance, rate capability and stability.
- Superconducting heterostructured multilayers for current transport (high Tc multilayers YBCO/LZO/Ni) and RF cavity (low Tc multilayers NbN/AlN/NbN) applications. Enhancement of physical properties by optimizing the multilayers configuration and its interfaces. (EUCARD2 Project).
