Raman spectroscopy has emerged as an indispensable tool for the in-depth characterization of two-dimensional (2D) materials, including MoS2, GaSe, and InSe. This powerful technique offers a wealth of information about the structural, optical, and vibrational properties of these materials, making it a versatile tool for researchers and engineers alike.

Through Raman spectroscopy, scientists can identify the vibrational modes of atoms within the 2D lattice, providing insights into the material's crystal structure and bonding characteristics. Additionally, the intensity and frequency shifts of these vibrational modes can be used to determine the layer thickness of 2D materials, allowing for precise control over their properties for specific applications.

The comprehensive analysis presented in this study underscores the indispensable nature of Raman spectroscopy in advancing our understanding and utilization of 2D materials. As research in this field continues to expand, Raman spectroscopy will undoubtedly remain an essential tool for unlocking the full potential of these remarkable materials.

Short Bio/CV

Badreddine SMIRI completed his Ph.D. in Tunisia in January 2020 and subsequently worked as a teacher-researcher for three years with the Quantum Optoelectronics team at the Laboratory of Physics and Chemistry of Nano-objects (LPCNO) at INSA Toulouse. During this period, his research focused on studying, characterizing and simulating the electronic and optical properties of low-dimensional semiconductors for both optoelectronic and electronic applications.

Since January 2023, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at CEA Grenoble, collaborating with Leti, LTM, and LMGP laboratories. His current primary focus revolves around investigating the optical and structural properties of low-dimensional semiconductor structures, including quantum wells and 2D materials (GaSe, InSe, MoS2...) for diverse applications ranging from electronics to optoelectronics.

He is the author or co-author of around 20 papers published in refereed journals and has contributed to one book chapter.
