Porous thin film technology @ ICMS

Resume

In this presentation, I will show a survey of technical and scientific developments of our research group in the last years at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville. I will share our experience growing porous and compact thin films by physical vapor deposition methods, as well as their performance in a variety of technological applications such as ophthalmic and electrochromic coatings, dichroic filters, scintillators, optofluidic and electrochemical sensors or electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells or water electrolysers.  Thus, for example, I will address some studies related to proof of concept experiences to show enhanced absorption of dye solutions in porous Bragg microcavities or the development of refractometric liquid and vapor sensing transducers based on porous multilayers fabricated by glancing angle deposition approach.  I will also share our latest work on catalysts for green hydrogen production in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis, as well as, results on the scaling up of our technology for devices with sizes relevant for industrial implementation.
